From the Front Range Interagency Fire Management Center in Cañon City…
Fire crews continue to make good progress on the Sand Gulch Fire. On Tuesday crews mopped-up and constructed more fire line to contain the fire.
This morning, the fire is reported at 495 acres in size, due to more accurate mapping. It is now considered 85% contained.
The Type 3 management team remains in place. There are approximately 75 firefighters committed to the fire.
Today, the two Hot Shot crews are continuing mop-up operations on the west flank of the fire. Three fire engines will be patrolling the fire area and take actions as necessary.
