From the Front Range Interagency Fire Management Center in Cañon City…
Fire crews made excellent progress on the Sand Gulch Fire on the San Isabel National Forest yesterday. Saturday’s snow was used to help mop-up and contain the fire.
This morning, the fire remains 555 acres in size and is now considered 70% contained.
The Type 3 management team remains in place. There continues to be approximately 100 firefighters committed to the fire.
Today, the three Hot Shot crews will focus efforts on building line on the west flank of the fire. The 6 fire engines will also remain in the fire area and take actions as necessary.
