Canon City’s Standard Oil Company Service Station

From one form of petroleum to another form of Go-Go Juice, the Standard Oil Company building on Canon’s Main Street has had the liquids that makes things GO.

With oil flowing from their newly acquired refinery in nearby Florence, and automobiles roaming the Main Streets of Canon, Standard Oil saw an opportunity and took it.

Originally housing the Vickers Petroleum filling station, built in 1923, Standard Oil bought, demolished and built their own Gas & Service Station in 1930. Howard Mann became manager in 1931, and it was a family ran two-bay service shop for 55 years with his sons finally retiring in 1986.

After their retirement it became many different things, first a meat shop from 1987-91, then later a Little Caeser’s Pizza, and later an office building, seeing a variety of businesses.

Unbridled now owns and operates Standard Oil Coffee Co inside the same Standard Oil Company building built in 1930. They serve a variety of fun and delicious housemade treats, and human petrolium of their own, good ol’ coffee.

Come see how this little building has come “full circle” in a funny little way, making things go, go, GO.

From Petroleum to Coffee its always had a way with liquid Go Juice.

This can be seen on Canon City’s historic main street, right across the street from the beautiful and historic St. Cloud.
