Old Wetmore Garage

From the Collection of George “Bill” Hall

Old Wetmore Garage, circa 1940-owned by the Doug and Samuel Hurley 1945-1946 ish until the early 1980’s.  The building still stands on Hwy 96.

Recollections of George “Bill” Hall on the Wetmore Garage:

Brothers Douglas and Samuel “Bud” Hurley, along with Fritz Smith Sr (Kathy West’s grandfather or father?), bought the garage from Ike Drote (sp?) in 1945-1946.  They used money from the GI Bill to make the purchase.  They also bought the Wetmore Store and the house that Kathy West lives in now.  Later, Fritz  sold his share of the garage, but kept the store and the house.  The Hurley brothers owned the garage until the early 1980’s.

The Hurley Brothers are Bill Hall’s uncles, and their uniforms are displayed in the History Center.
