“Colorado Burning” was painted by Kathy A Madonna to commemorate the Aspen Acres Fire which started on June 29, 2026.
It was put up for auction by the artist and 103 Vintage Market Place in Florence with the funds going to the Wetmore Volunteer Fire Department.
The highest bid was made by Joan Hamilton-McCrae who donated the painting to the Wetmore-Hardscrabble Genealogical and Historical Society.
President Dave Alexander unveiled the painting during Wetmore Day at the Florence Pioneer Museum on August 8, 2026.
The painting will be hung in the Wetmore section in the Museum.
