Fremont County Colorado, Sesquicentennial Celebration, November 1, 2011

A birthday celebration was held at the Fremont County Administration Building in Canon City, Colorado on November 1, 2011.

.The celebration commemorated the 150th birthday of Fremont County  and the 50th birthday of the Administration Building. The event was sponsored by the Fremont County Heritage Commission.

Fremont County Heritage Commission member and event hostess, Carol McNew, welcomed and introduced guests.  Fremont County Commissioner Mike Stiehl gave a brief history of the Fremont County Administration Building completed in 1961. A proclamation signed by Governor Hickenlooper was read by Colorado Senator Kevin Grantham and presented to Fremont County Commissioner Ed Norden. Members of the Fremont County Heritage Commission were introduced and the Sesquicentennial Quilt hanging in the stairwell in the Administration building was admired.  A special thank you went out to all who made this celebration possible.  Birthday cake was then served as Spirits of the Past mingled amongst the guests.
